In John 20:31 we read, “but these are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”
That’s an incredible promise. If we believe that Jesus is the Christ, we will have life in his name. But what about those times when it feels like we do believe, but we’re not experiencing the “life” described here. For many Christians, there often seems to be a disconnect here.
My latest sermon, “From Belief to Trust,” attempts to address this disconnect. In John 6, there is a crowd of people who believe in Jesus, but ultimately they walk away from him proving their belief wasn’t what they thought it was. They leave Jesus because he wouldn’t give them what they want, not realizing he was ready to give them more than they ever needed.
